URBANA, Illinois — The University of Illinois Police Department is congratulating two of its newest officers on their graduation from police academy Thursday, one of whom earned the academy’s top honor.
Officers Gabriel Donnelly and Candance Williams completed the 16-week basic law enforcement course this summer and will now enter field training at UIPD. They will start patrolling the campus area with a field training officer.
Williams notably earned the police academy’s highest honor, the Ervin H. Warren award, which is based on academic achievement, responsiveness to instruction, moral character, professional conduct and integrity. The selection process considers input from Police Training Institute instructors, administrators and fellow officers in the class.
