The Division of Public Safety strives for transparency, and we want to help you get the information you need.

As a public institution, the Division of Public Safety is subject to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). A log of all FOIA requests is maintained by the Office for University Relations, which manages the FOIA process for the University of Illinois System.

If you are seeking information or an update related to a report you filed, but you don’t need the document itself, please call 217-333-1216 and you will be directed to the officer working on your case.

    Please be as specific as possible when describing the records you are seeking. Please supply dates, titles, file designations, or other appropriate information. Remember, the Freedom of Information Act is designed to allow you to inspect or receive copies of records. We will help you however we can, but it is not designed to require a public body to answer questions.
