Concerts will affect traffic near State Farm Center

CHAMPAIGN – Motorists traveling through campus should expect increased traffic near State Farm Center throughout the day Saturday.

Two concerts featuring Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The most significant traffic impacts are expected between roughly 6-7 p.m., as vehicles depart the first show and new vehicles arrive for the second show.

To assist in accommodating concert-goers and to help parking plans proceed efficiently, police are asking anyone planning to attend Saturday’s second concert to arrive no earlier than 6:30 p.m. It is not expected that parking lots will be fully cleared from the first show prior to that time. Anyone arriving before lots are cleared may be turned away until parking becomes available.

Concerts also are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Traffic levels around those times are expected to be similar to Fighting Illini basketball games.

Police and parking staff will be on hand to direct traffic at key intersections and to help concert-goers find parking.
