Jameal W. Shaw, 39, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:58 a.m. Sunday near Lincoln Avenue and Church Street, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without headlights and driving with a suspended license. Shaw’s vehicle initially was stopped because he was driving at night without headlights.

A U. of I. student reported that someone had made eight unauthorized transactions on her credit card Wednesday totaling $4,735. The student’s parents were in possession of the card at the time the transactions were made.

A U. of I. student reported that a firearm and ammunition had been stolen from his vehicle between Wednesday and Saturday while it was parked in a garage at his apartment building in the 200 block of East Green Street, Champaign. The stolen items have an estimated value of $700. It is not known if the vehicle was locked.

A food delivery driver reported that he was the victim of a battery at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at the Ashton Woods apartment complex, 2301 S. First St., Champaign. Upon receiving a delivery, the customer shoved the driver and threw the bag of food at him. The driver was not injured. The alleged offender disputed the driver’s account, and police have sent the information to the Champaign County state’s attorney for a charging decision.

A U. of I. student reported that his car’s catalytic converter was stolen between Dec. 3 and Friday while it was parked in the 300 block of East John Street, Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the vehicle is $2,000.

A U. of I. student reported at 6:02 p.m. Friday that he found a threat of violence written on a bathroom stall divider at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. It is not known when the graffiti was created.

Javarrias J. Miller, 23, of Carlinville, Illinois, was arrested at 11:01 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of East John Street, Champaign, for possession of a stolen vehicle. A U. of I. student initially called police at 9:57 a.m. Friday to report that his vehicle had been stolen overnight from the 100 block of East Peabody Drive, Champaign. Police located the vehicle with Miller driving. The vehicle was returned to the student.

A U. of I. student reported that his $400 coat had been stolen around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 12 from an unlocked locker at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign.

A U. of I. student reported that a package had been stolen between 10:56 a.m. and noon Dec. 9 after it was delivered to the mail area of her apartment building in the 700 block of South Fourth Street, Champaign. The package has a retail value of $52.

A U. of I. student reported Dec. 3 that multiple packages had been stolen from the mail area of her apartment building in the 700 block of South Fourth Street, Champaign. The most recent incident occurred between 1-3 p.m. Nov. 28, when two packages with a total retail value of $202 were stolen. The student said it happened previously but gave no specifics on prior thefts.
