Oluwadara O. Owoeye, 25, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Monday at Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory, 205 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana, for disorderly conduct and trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by building staff who reported that Owoeye was acting aggressively toward employees and shouting racial slurs. Owoeye previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property.
At 11:36 a.m. Sunday at TownePlace Suites by Marriott, 603 S. Sixth St., Champaign, Brenda K. Persico, 30, of Homer, Illinois, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for identity theft. Persico reportedly used another person’s rewards points without permission to book a hotel room for three nights. The reservation has a value of $807.
A U. of I. student reported Friday that he was the victim of a battery Feb. 7 while attempting to enter the Illinois Street Residence Halls dining hall, 1010 W. Illinois St., Urbana, without paying. The student reported that a dining hall employee grasped his arm too strongly when the student attempted to pass the check-in register.
