Hakim N.H. Nouraoui, 24, of Urbana, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday near Green and Locust streets, Champaign, for criminal damage to property. Police initially were called by an employee of a restaurant in the 600 block of East Green Street, Champaign, who reported that someone kicked over a glass bakery display case. The incident reportedly happened without provocation. Police viewed security camera footage and recognized Nouraoui as the person involved. They found him several blocks away. The estimated cost to replace the shattered display case is $2,087.
A U. of I. student reported that a package had been stolen from her apartment building between 2:14-3 p.m. Saturday after it had been delivered to the mail area of the building in the 0-100 block of East John Street, Champaign. The package has a retail value of $218.
A U. of I. employee reported Tuesday that a group of about 15-20 men were seen between 4-4:30 p.m. Sunday throwing bottles at and breaking windows outside the Printing Services Building, 54 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The men ran away when an employee went outside to investigate the loud noises. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $300.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between 1:30-2:45 p.m. Nov. 29 outside his apartment in the 0-100 block of East Chalmers Street, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $98, was locked to a rack.*
