U. of I. student Sultan A. Oyekanmi, 18, was arrested at 4:07 a.m. Wednesday at his residence at Oglesby Hall, 1005 College Court, Urbana, for domestic battery. Police were called by another U. of I. student who reported that Oyekanmi hit and choked her.

An electric bicycle was reported stolen between 2-5 p.m. Tuesday outside the Art and Design Building, 408 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $1,800, was locked to a rack.*

A U. of I. employee reported that a client at the College of Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Clinic, 1008 W. Hazelwood Drive, Urbana, punched a hole in a wall around 5 p.m. Monday after receiving a diagnosis about his pet. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $500.

An employee of a local business reported Tuesday that the amount and payee information on eight checks had been altered and cashed, resulting in a $38,544 loss to the business. The checks are believed to have been stolen after they were dropped off at the post office, 302 E. Green St., Champaign. Seven of the checks were illegally cashed in January, and the last was cashed Nov. 10.
