It was reported that at least three people received minor injuries during a large fight at 2:35 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Green Street Café, 35 E. Green St., Champaign. A verbal altercation preceded the fight. The primary aggressors left the area before police arrived. The three victims declined medical assistance.
Jesus E. Padilla, 20, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. Thursday at Kam’s, 102 E. Green St., Champaign, for aggravated battery and resisting a police officer. Police initially were called after Padilla reportedly punched a security guard in the face after being removed from the business. Padilla then resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him.
A U. of I. student reported that an unknown person shouted racial slurs and other provocative statements in the student’s direction around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday near Sixth and Green streets, Champaign. The student crossed the street and the aggressor did not follow.
A U. of I. student reported that a package had been stolen sometime after 9:45 a.m. Friday when it was delivered to the mail room of her apartment building in the 500 block of East Healey Street, Champaign. The package has a total retail value of $484
A U. of I. student reported that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle between 5:30-8:18 p.m. Saturday while it was parked in a garage in the 500 block of East John Street, Champaign. The vehicle registration, insurance card and a $10 charging cable were stolen.
A U. of I. student reported that a package had been stolen Feb. 15 after it was delivered to the mail area of her apartment building in the 100 block of East Gregory Drive, Champaign. The package has a retail value of $41.
