Maishia A. Brown, 38, no address provided, was arrested at 3:27 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of South Lincoln Avenue, Urbana, on a Champaign County warrant for theft. Police saw Brown asleep in a parked vehicle and initially approached to check on her.

A U. of I. student reported that someone had dented her vehicle between Oct. 16 and Friday while it was parked in a garage in the 400 block of East Chalmers Street, Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $1,500.

At 9:46 p.m. Saturday at Saunders Hall, 902 W. College Court, Urbana, U. of I. student Isiah O. Adeleke, 18, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for disorderly conduct. Police initially were called by another U. of I. student who reported that Adeleke was dressed as a police officer, entered other students’ rooms without permission and handcuffed them. Adeleke told officers that the stunts were a joke, and he was making a video.

U. of I. student Shaili E. McNeely, 19, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:59 a.m. Saturday near First and Green streets, Champaign, for aggravated battery. An employee of a nearby business reported that McNeely had struck him in the face. The employee did not require medical assistance.

On Friday, it was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted in September at an off-campus apartment. The offender is a person known to the student.

A U. of I. student reported that his vehicle had been dented between 1:30-2:20 a.m. Oct. 15 while it was parked in a lot in the 0-100 block of East Green Street, Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $1,500.

A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Thursday or Friday from a parking garage in the 200 block of East Green Street, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $70, was locked to a rack.*

Two U. of I. students reported that someone had entered their apartment in the 900 block of South First Street, Champaign, overnight Thursday or Friday and stole miscellaneous items including car keys and electronics. The total estimated value of the stolen items is $1,390. The residents did not know if the apartment door was locked at the time of the incident.

A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen around 10 a.m. Oct. 14 outside of his apartment in the 300 block of East John Street, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $150, was locked to a rack.*

Devonte J. Moore, 27, no address provided, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. Saturday near Sixth and Chalmers streets, Champaign, for arson. Police initially were called at 7:19 p.m. Thursday to the 300 block of East Chalmers Street, Champaign, where witnesses reported seeing a man set fire to some kind of fluid under a parked vehicle. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the $25,000 vehicle was a total loss. Upon reviewing video from nearby security cameras, police recognized the man as Moore. Patrol officers arrested him Saturday after seeing him walking on the sidewalk.

Kiley A. Sanders, 38, and Abbey L. Smith, 40, both of Terre Haute, Indiana, were arrested at 8 p.m. Thursday in the 0-100 block of East Springfield Avenue, Champaign, for possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of hypodermic needles. Smith additionally was arrested for obstructing justice, being a fugitive from justice and on an Indiana warrant for dealing narcotics. Police initially were called by an employee of a business who saw suspected drug activity in the parking lot. Officers searched the vehicle after a police dog indicated the presence of narcotics, and officers found syringes and heroin. Smith initially gave police a false name.

The manager of a business in the 100 block of East Green Street, Champaign, reported Thursday that the business had received a counterfeit $100 bill from a customer. The manager discovered the counterfeit bill when she attempted to deposit cash at a local bank.

The manager of a convenience store in the 0-100 block of East Green Street, Champaign, reported at 4:19 p.m. Thursday that someone had left the store without paying for several items, including food and tobacco. The stolen merchandise has a total retail value of $62.95.

A U. of I. student reported Thursday that he was the victim of a sexual extortion scam. The student engaged in a video call with a person he believed to be an intimate partner, but later learned that person had lied about their identity. During the video call, the offender had recorded an intimate video of the student without consent and sent it to several of the student’s social media contacts. The offender then demanded $400. The student refused payment and blocked the offender on social media.

Martin L. Hollins, 38, was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Friday in the 4000 block of Aberdeen Drive, Champaign, for violating an order of protection. Police initially were called Oct. 17 by a U. of I. employee who reported that she had received a text message from Hollins after he had been served with a court order instructing him not to have contact with the employee. Police found Hollins on Friday as he was leaving his home in the 300 block of South Elm Street, Champaign, and followed him to Aberdeen Drive.

A U. of I. employee reported that he witnessed an attempted motor vehicle burglary at 12:55 a.m. Oct. 14 at U. of I. parking garage B-4, 1201 W. University Ave., Urbana. The employee saw a man walking in the garage carrying coin containers taken from a university parking department truck. The employee made a comment to the man, who then set the containers down and ran from the area. The investigation is ongoing.
