A U. of I. student reported that his electric bicycle had been stolen between Friday and Sunday from the parking garage at his apartment in the 500 block of South Second Street, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $1,400, was locked to a rack.*
A U. of I. student reported that his motor scooter had been stolen between 7:30-10 p.m. Sunday from the parking garage at his apartment in the 0-100 block of East Chalmers Street, Champaign. The scooter, which has an estimated value of $3,000, was parked with its steering locked.
A U. of I. student reported that her cellphone had been stolen around 4:30 p.m. Sunday from a bus shelter in the 1400 block of West Green Street, Urbana. The cellphone, which has an estimated value of $1,200, was mistakenly left at the shelter. GPS tracking data showed it had been taken to an apartment in the 1800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, Urbana.
Brandon A. Shaw, 27, no address provided, was arrested at 1:07 p.m. Sunday near First Street and Springfield Avenue, Champaign, on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Police initially were called to check on Shaw after a passerby saw him unconscious on the sidewalk.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen Saturday or Sunday outside Wardall Hall, 1012 W. Illinois St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $400, was locked to a rack.*
A U. of I. student reported that her electric scooter had been stolen between 2:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday outside Engineering Hall, 1308 W. Green St., Urbana. The scooter, which has an estimated value of $300, was locked to a rack.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Thursday or Friday from Townsend Hall, 918 W. Illinois St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $550, was locked to a rack.*
A U. of I. student reported at 7:47 p.m. Saturday that he was punched in the face near First Street and Gregory Drive, Champaign, during a fight with a group of people known to the victim. The student was taken to a local hospital.
Aaron D. Hall, 26, of Champaign, was arrested at 3:16 a.m. Saturday near Main Street and Urbana Avenue, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of liquor, driving without a license and improper lane usage. Hall’s vehicle initially was stopped because it crossed the center line of the roadway several times. During the same stop, Rodell T. Williams, 29, of Champaign, was arrested for obstructing justice, illegal possession of cannabis in a vehicle and on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Williams initially gave police a false name and was carrying cannabis in an unapproved container for vehicle transportation.
A U. of I. student reported that he was the victim of a robbery at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of East Green Street, Champaign. The student was walking on the sidewalk when he was confronted by a man who pushed him, demanded money and made a physical threat. The student followed the offender to an ATM in the 600 block of East Green Street, withdrew cash and gave it to the offender. The offender then left the area. The student did not require medical assistance.
A U. of I. student reported that cash had been stolen from his wallet between 8:30-10 p.m. Thursday at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The wallet was left unattended in a gym bag on the side of a basketball court.
A U. of I. student reported that his electric scooter had been stolen between 2-3:40 p.m. Friday outside the Campus Instructional Facility, 1405 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. The scooter, which has an estimated value of $500, was locked to a handrail.
A U. of I. student reported that her headphones had been stolen between 5-5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South Fifth Street, Champaign. The student misplaced the headphones, which have an estimated value of $250, and GPS tracking data showed that they had been taken to an address in the 100 block of West Washington Street, Champaign.
A U. of I. student was the victim of a hit-and-run accident at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday near Sixth and Daniel streets, Champaign. The student was walking across the street with the right-of-way when she was struck by a vehicle. The student and the driver exchanged information on the scene, but the student later discovered that the driver had given her a false name and phone number. The student did not seek medical assistance at the time of the accident but later visited a local hospital.
