A U. of I. student reported that a fanny pack had been stolen around 7:10 p.m. Friday from his room at Scott Hall, 202 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The fanny pack and its contents, including the student’s wallet, credit cards, identification and cash, has a total estimated value of $60. It was left unattended in an unlocked room.
A U. of I. student reported that someone threw a rock through her apartment window at 12:56 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of East John Street, Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the window is $300.
A U. of I. student reported that his electric scooter had been stolen between 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday outside the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The scooter, which has an estimated value of $450, was locked to a rack.
A U. of I. student reported that her bicycle had been stolen between Thursday and Sunday outside Sherman Hall, 909 S. Fifth St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $700, was locked to a rack.*
Exauce M. Bwandundu, 21, of Champaign, was arrested at 8:07 p.m. Sunday at the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building, 301 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign, for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by a U. of I. student who reported that Bwandundu was following her in the dining hall. The student recognized Bwandundu from a previous interaction several weeks prior when he reportedly grabbed her arm in the 600 block of East Green Street. Bwandundu previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property. Police later discovered security camera video of Bwandundu entering the facility by accessing an exit-only door as someone else was leaving.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had broken his car’s windshield while it was parked in his apartment building’s garage in the 300 block of East Green Street, Champaign. An estimated cost to replace the windshield was not available.
At 10:47 p.m. Sunday at his residence in the 600 block of East Green Street, Champaign, U. of I. student Nicholas C. Colegrove, 21, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for criminal damage to property. Police initially were called by a U. of I. student who reported that someone had thrown rocks through two of her apartment windows. The victim provided a cellphone photo of the suspect, which helped police to identify Colegrove as the offender. The estimated cost to replace the windows is $400.
A U. of I. student reported that his backpack containing a laptop computer, tablet computer, wallet, credit cards and other miscellaneous items had been stolen between 8:15-8:40 p.m. Sunday at Nugent Hall, 207 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The backpack and its contents, which have a total estimated value of $3,440, were left unattended in a public multipurpose room.
It was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted at 2:45 a.m. Saturday at a university residence hall. The offender is someone who met the student through a dating app. The investigation is ongoing.
A U. of I. student reported that a window on her vehicle had been broken between Tuesday and Saturday while it was parked in her apartment complex’s garage in the 900 block of South First Street, Champaign. An estimated cost to replace the window was not available.
It was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted at 4 a.m. Saturday in a vehicle parked in the 700 block of South Locust Street, Champaign. The offender is a person who met the student at a bar.
Hakim H.N. Nouraoui, 24, of Urbana, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Friday at Illinois Street Residence Halls, 1010 W. Illinois St., Urbana, for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by residence hall staff who recognized Nouraoui and were aware that he previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property. He was arrested at that time. Residence hall staff called police again when he returned a few hours later, and he was arrested a second time.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between 3:50-5:40 p.m. Friday outside his apartment building in the 300 block of East Green Street, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $135, was locked to a fence.*
A U. of I. student reported that her car’s catalytic converter had been stolen between Tuesday and Friday while it parked in U. of I. lot E-14, 1702 S. First St., Champaign. The estimated cost to replace the part is $1,500.
Exauce M. Bwandundu, 21, of Champaign, and Amarion D. Poindexter, 18, of Urbana, were arrested at 11:50 a.m. Friday at an apartment in the 200 block of East John Street, Champaign, for criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a residence. Police initially were called by an employee of the property manager who said that Bwandundu and Poindexter were attempting to live in a vacant apartment. After a similar incident on Thursday, they were instructed not to return to the property.
