Oluwadara O. Owoeye, 24, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday at the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building, 301 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign, for battery, disorderly conduct and trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by a dining hall employee who reported that Owoeye had caused a disturbance. When the employee asked him to leave, Owoeye punched the employee in the chest. Owoeye previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property. The employee did not require medical assistance.
A U. of I. student reported Tuesday that he discovered fraudulent charges on his debit card totaling $326. Several other charges from online purchases were pending at the time of the report. The student was in possession of the debit card Monday when the fraudulent transactions were attempted.
A U. of I. student reported that she was followed by a man between 8-8:30 a.m. Tuesday as she walked on the South Quad in the 1400 block of West Gregory Drive, Urbana. She had a brief conversation with the man, and he continued to follow her after she asked him not to. The man eventually walked away.
A U. of I. employee reported that an exterior door had been damaged between midnight Monday and 3:20 a.m. Tuesday at the English Building, 608 S. Wright St., Urbana. It appeared that the damage was caused by someone forcibly opening the door while it was locked. The estimated cost to replace the door is $1,000.
