At 3:38 a.m. Friday, a smartphone was reported stolen from The Red Lion, 211 E. Green St., Champaign. The phone was valued at $475.
At 11 a.m. Feb. 22, it was reported that packages containing a dress and art supplies were stolen from an apartment building at 53 E. Chalmers St., Champaign. The total value of the stolen items was $60.
A pizza delivery vehicle containing a smartphone was stolen at 10:43 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of South First Street, Champaign. The driver left the vehicle parked and running on the side of the street. The vehicle was later recovered in the 1300 block of Garden Hills Drive, Champaign. No information was provided about the missing smartphone.
A vehicle was burglarized at 6:01 p.m. Saturday in a parking garage in the 200 block of East John Street, Champaign. A set of work keys, an insurance card, a manicure kit and approximately $20 were stolen from the vehicle.
A U. of I. student reported that she was battered by two people unknown to her at Joe’s Brewery, 706 S. Fifth St., Champaign, at 1:02 a.m. Friday. Police continue to investigate.
Xitaly J. Casares, 20, of Champaign, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery at 6:05 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Green Street, Champaign. Casares was involved in an altercation outside of Chopstix, 201 E. Green St.
A U. of I. student reported that she had been sexually assaulted between 10:15 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 500 block of South Locust Street, Champaign. Police continue to investigate.
On Friday, two U. of I. students reported they were victims of an internet scam. The students responded to an email application for a research assistant position with an Illinois Community College. They were asked for money for office supplies and sent a total of $3,100 in several separate transactions. They received reimbursement checks that were deemed fraudulent by their bank.
Between 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, a bicycle was stolen from the Campus Instructional Facility, 1405 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. The bike, which was locked to a rack, was valued at $180.
A woman reported that her laundry was stolen from a dryer at Orchard Downs housing complex, 2053 S. Orchard St., Urbana, between 8:45 p.m. Thursday and 5:25 a.m. Friday. The value of the clothing, which included personal clothing and work uniforms, was $950.
It was reported that several establishments sold alcohol to underage buyers in an operation conducted by UIPD and the Illinois Liquor Control Commission between 12:30-5:30 p.m. Friday. The establishments making the sales were Circle K, 59 E. Green St., Champaign; Liquor Land, 32 E. Green St., Champaign; Campus Pantry, 112 E. Green St., Champaign; and Illini Pantry, 606 S. Sixth St., Champaign.
A man reported that his bicycle was stolen from his apartment building in the 100 block East Green Street, Champaign, between Feb. 23 and Sunday. The bicycle, which was locked to a rack, was valued at $250.
At 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of East Green Street, Champaign, Manuel A. Lema, 24, of Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated battery. Lema was found walking along Green Street after abandoning his running vehicle a few blocks away. Lema also is accused of choking a woman and throwing her to the ground.
