It was reported Feb. 24 that a Champaign woman was the victim of check fraud. The victim had initially written a check for $422.94 on Jan. 28 to a local plumbing company for work at her residence. She dropped the check off at a United States Postal Service mailbox in the 300 block of East Green Street, Champaign, and later discovered that the check had been stolen and altered, and her account was charged $4,022.94. The victim notified her bank and received a photocopy of the check with the forged payee name and altered amount.

 At 12:48 a.m. Sunday, a U. of I. student reported that his food delivery order was stolen from outside the rear entrance of Taft-Van Doren Hall, 1213 S. Fourth St., Champaign. The total value of the stolen food was unlisted.

 At 2:12 a.m. Friday at Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall, 906 W. College Court, Urbana, Rodney L. Teague Jr., 32, of Champaign, was issued a no-trespass notice to all university property after police were notified of a man sleeping on a couch in the lower-level lounge area.

At 11:05 p.m. Thursday, U. of I. student Caden D. Chenicek, 20, of Champaign, was cited for aggravated battery at Kam’s, 102 E. Green St., Champaign. Chenicek is accused of punching multiple employees and spitting on patrons from a terrace while inside the bar.
